Catholicism 101: Great Website for the Basics of Our Faith

http://catholicism.about.com/od/beliefsteachings/tp/Catholicism_101.htm

I just discovered this terrific website with a wealth of information on the basics of the Roman Catholic faith. I did a spot check on a variety of topics (Baptism, Confirmation, Cardinal Virtues) and this site appears to be absolutely orthodox. The explanations of the doctrines of our Roman Catholic faith are easy to understand. What a great resource!

The About.com: Catholicism website is written by Scott P. Richert. I checked his credentials, and he has an impressive knowledge of the Catholic faith, both eastern and western rite. Good job, Scott!

"Dr. Italy" is a Great Speaker on Catholic Faith!

Dr. Marcellino D'Ambrosio is a fantastic speaker -- a really down-to-earth Italian Catholic who is also a theologian. He really knows how to talk about our faith. His website has great information and links.

At my parish, we showed his DVD program, "Feast of Faith", and everyone loved it! One group got a copy and formed a small discussion group around it. Feast of Faith is all about the meaning of the Mass, how to prepare ourselves for it, what Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is all about, etc. Many parishioners were astounded by how little they understood the profound richness of the Eucharist: have you studied your faith lately? How about since your own Confirmation? Think about it.

I highly recommend Dr. Ambrosio's columns, audio cassettes and DVDs.

Catholic Podcasts from SQPN.com Take Home Four Podcast Awards

Catholic Online has a great summary of the podcasts from the Star Quest Production Network (SQPN) founded by Fr. Roderick, a Roman Catholic priest: http://www.catholic.org/prwire/headline.php?ID=5346

Food and Fellowship: The video series ‘Grace Before Meals’, hosted by the Catholic priest and chef Fr. Leo Patalinghug won the award in the Food and Drink category.

Christian Music:
George Leite won the award in the Music category for his show ‘Catholic Rockers’.

Health in Mind and Body: Dutch priest Fr. Roderick Vonhogen won the Health/Fitness award for his show ‘Healthy Catholic’, a weekly show about physical and spiritual health.

Wake Up Inspired:
Fr. Roderick also won the Religion/Inspiration award for his morning show ‘Daily Breakfast’, a mix of catechesis and popular culture.
The "Daily Breakfast" is the most popular Catholic podcast on iTunes -- really a lot of fun, and I learn a lot. Catholics can have fun!

My Roman Catholic Twitter

About once a day, I send a tweet with information to help adult Catholics learn and grow in their faith, e.g. books, websites, Bible verses, reflections from the Saints, Catholic Social Teaching, podcasts, etc.

http://www.twitter.com/dspost

I expand on the Tweets here on Blogspot.

I do my best to review each of my recommendations for orthodoxy and solidarity with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

I am a catechist in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, a committee member on our adult Faith Enrichment Team, chair of the Pastoral Council at my parish, a Eucharistic Minister, and member of our Social Concerns Committee.

I was initiated to the Roman Catholic Church about 12 years ago and have never looked back. The more I study the Church that Jesus Christ founded 2000 years ago, the better it gets!
